I am a Researcher in the Production Biology Department, Aquaculture Division at Nofima, Sunndalsøra, Norway. My research areas are on developing production protocols for recirculating aquaculture (RAS), including water quality management, water treatment technologies and off-flavour removal in RAS. I also work on broodstock, egg quality, early life-stages and fish welfare of salmonids and cod.
Previously, I worked as a Scientist at the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, India and my research was on broodstock nutrition, fish reproduction, gamete quality, and larviculture. In addition, I also worked on biofloc, RAS, and pond farming for warm-water species including catfish, carps, snakeheads, shrimps, and prawns.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Fisheries Science from the Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu, India; a Master’s in Fish Nutrition and Physiology from the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, India; and a PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain and the PhD research was on Broodstock nutritional programming in seabream.
My educational background includes Bachelor’s (B.F.Sc) degree in Fisheries Science from Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India; a Master’s (M.F.Sc.,) degree from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, India, and a PhD from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain and my PhD research was on “Effect of nutritional programming through broodstock diets and selective breeding on reproductive performance and offspring quality of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata)”.
