Biography Bente E. Torstensen

As Division Director for Aquaculture at Nofima, I am responsible for research and innovation for aquaculture and production of seafood. The division’s research covers the value chain from feed raw materials and roe until the seafood is produced and ready for slaughter. The division has modern and relevant infrastructure to deliver research based knowledge for the aquaculture industry and we cover the subject areas fish nutrition, feed, fish welfare, fish health, breeding, genetics, production biology, farming in new production systems (e.g. RAS), farming of new species and coexistence.
I have a PhD degree from the University of Bergen and NIFES in fish nutrition and 20 years of work experience in NIFES where I worked as a researcher, senior researcher, Research Director for Human Nutrition and Research Director for Fish Nutrition. I also have experience from MOWI as team leader for fish feed for Global R&D. I am board member of EAS (European Aquaculture Society) and the HAV portfolio
