Biografi Ragnhild Dragøy Whitaker

Jeg er forskningssjef for gruppen marin bioteknologi (MB), der fokus ligger i å sikre maksimal verdi fra restråstoff og ubrukt marin biomasse. Marint restråstoff er en betegnelse på råstoff fra fiskeri og oppdrett som ikke inngår i de konvensjonelle produktene, og vi jobber med å sikre at alle verdifulle produkter fra restråstoffet blir tatt vare på og utnyttet. I tillegg finnes det en mye råstoff i havet som ikke blir brukt i dag, og vi har fokus på å finne måter å utnytte dette råstoffet best mulig. Vi jobber tverrfaglig på Nofima for å sikre total utnyttelse av all biomasse både fra hav og land, og for å sikre verdikjeden fra forskning til kommersielt produkt fra de ubrukte råstoffene.Som forsker har jeg bakgrunn fra akademia og industri, men en doktorgrad i kjemi, en MBA i bærekraftig innovasjon innen global sjømat. Jeg har arbeidserfaring fra universitet, start-up firmaer og instituttsektoren. Jeg har jobbet med innovasjon innen bioprosessering, bioprospektering nano- og mikropartikler og kommersialisering og har stort fokus på å sikre bærekraftig utnyttelse av ressursene vi har i Norge og ellers i verden.
