Biografi Jan Thomas Rosnes

Jeg har vært ansatt i Nofima siden 1993 og har arbeidet med forskjellige problemstillinger knyttet til mikroorganismers innvirkning på matvarer. Forskningsområdene har omfattet kontroll av vekst og overlevelse av sykdomsfremkallende mikroorganismer, men jeg arbeider også med mikroorganismer som gir nedsatt kvalitet. Når industrien tar i bruk forskjellig type teknologi for å konservere eller forlenge holdbarheten deltar jeg med risikovurderinger for å sikre mattryggheten. Et hovedområde har vært varmebehandlete matvarer og utfordringen her er varmetolerante sporedannende bakterier. Doktorgraden tok jeg på Universitetet i Bergen innenfor feltet oljemikrobiologi. Gjennom de 10 siste årene har jeg hatt gitt undervisning på forskjellige høyskoler og de siste årene har jeg undervist i næringsmiddelmikrobiologi ved Universitet i Stavanger.
