Biografi Even Heir

Jeg jobber som forsker innenfor Trygg og Holdbar mat i Divisjon Mat. Jeg jobber spesielt med Trygg mat problematikk for å forstå hvordan uønskede bakterier kan vokse og overleve i mat og matproduksjonsmiljøer innenfor både landbasert matproduksjon og sjømatproduksjon. Arbeidet inkluderer hele matkjeden fra råvarer til produkt hos forbruker. Jeg har jobbet mye med matbårne, sykdomsfremkallende bakterier (eks. Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella), men jobber også med kvalitetsforringende bakterier. I arbeidet genererer vi kunnskap om bruk av nye teknologier for å drepe bakterier i mat og miljø, vaske- og desinfeksjonsstrategier og nye kombinerte strategier («hinderteknologi»). Kompetanseoverføring til næringen innen disse områdene er en viktig del av arbeidet som gir industrien økt grunnlag for produksjon av trygg og holdbar mat med høy kvalitet. Jeg er spesielt interessert i biofilmdannelse hos bakterier og hvordan bakterier kan tilpasse seg/adapteres til betingelser i mat og matproduksjonsmiljøer. Jeg er utdannet sivilingeniør fra NTH (NTNU) og ferdigstilte min Ph.D. i 1998 (Resistens mot desinfeksjonsmidler hos stafylokokker). I perioden 1998-2003 jobbet jeg ved Nasjonalt folkehelseinstitutt med bruk av molekylære metoder for karakterisering og typing av matbårne patogene bakterier.
