It's not only farmed salmon that eat salmon feed. Saithe and other wild fish that search for food in the ocean can be tempted to enjoy an easy meal outside the salmon cage. Here, some of the feed that is fed to the farmed fish gets through the net wall with the water currents and is an easy catch for hungry wild fish.

Food researchers and entrepreneurs join forces to make food from kelp forests along the Norwegian coast.
The project will investigate the seasonal variation of the fish by carrying out comprehensive studies on how individual factors affect the quality of mackerel products at various stages in the value chain.
The purpose of the project is to develop instruments and mathematical methods for automatic quality control of whitefish and salmon.
