The Aquafeed Technology Centre has been awarded NOK 30 million (3.7 mill. USD) by the Research Council of Norway, for research into fish feed. The centre will contribute to knowledge about how raw materials in the fish feed of the future can be used in the best possible way during preprocessing.
When we keep fish in aquaculture, we must be sure that the fish receive the nutrients they require for growth and good health. Scientists at Nofima have studied nutrition in aquatic animals for several decades.

Scientists at Nofima have developed a process additive with triple benefits: it functions as a binding agent, has high nutritional value, and makes it easier to produce fish feed with good physical properties.
Greater predictability of food quality increases profitability. Scientists at Nofima have extensive knowledge into the properties of raw materials and how they can vary as a consequence of changes in growth and farming conditions, processing and storage.
In our facility we offer the best solutions to develop and test new ingredients and feeds. We have extensive knowledge in technology and raw materials, and highly skilled scientists.
Our scientists gain knowledge about how we can improve the quality of seafood, how the raw materials can be handled and used optimally, and how the fishing industry can increase the value of its products.
Knowledge about factors that influence the quality of raw materials is required in order to produce food of stable high quality. Our scientists have expertise in understanding raw material variation, efficient production processes, rapid and precise measurement techniques and statistical process control and optimisation.
