This report is the result of an evaluation carried out for the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs, where a pilot scheme for long-term agreements – in the period August 2005–September 2007 – within the first hand sales of fish is analysed. The mapping reveals that fishing vessel-owners show a relatively low interest for this opportunity. The utilisation of long-term agreements varies from absent in some fisheries, to moderate in others. Although feasible in all fisheries, only 11 per cent of total catch, and 4.4 per cent of the catch value, from Norwegian vessels were mediated trough long-term agreements in 2006.
