The profitability in the Norwegian fish processing industry declined in 2007. As the profits declined steeply in the fishmeal industry, profits in the seafood processing industry improved.

Processors of klipfish and stockfish were again among the most profitable, even if their profit were considerably lower then the year before. The whitefish filleting processors and processors of wet salted fish lost money in 2007. Thus, 2007 was a dismal year for many whitefish processors.

Processors of herring and mackerel turned from loss to profit. Also the processors of salmon and trout increased their profits in 2007.

For many of the whole sale companies trading seafood 2007 was among the most profitable in a decade.
