Biography Martin Hansen Skjelvareid

I belong to the Department of Seafood Industry, and I work on development of quality assessment methods for different kinds of seafood. The methods are mainly based on optical measurements and include x-ray and hyperspectral imaging. I am also involved in research on new methods for sea food processing. I received my master’s degree in electronics, acoustics and signal processing from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2008, and my Ph.D. from the University of Tromsø in 2012. The topic of my Ph.D. thesis was synthetic aperture focusing of ultrasonic images from inside pipes. My work often involves processing and visualization of data in software tools like Matlab and IDL, in addition to designing and performing laboratory experiments. Additional keywords concerning my work include online measurements, machine vision, ultrasound, HIFU, signal and image processing, instrumentation and automation.
