Biography Gesine Schmidt
I started my work in Nofima as a postdoc researcher in 2011 and was employed as research scientist in 2014. My research areas include Metabolomics and Lipidomics. I am especially interested in plant-produced, health-related compounds in fruits, berries and vegetables, their change through cultivation, post-harvest treatment, processing and storage and their interrelation with taste. My special interests also include instrumental and statistical methods in analytical chemistry, with emphasis on extraction methods, liquid- and gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. I hold a diploma degree (correspondent MSc) in marine environmental sciences from the University of Oldenburg, Germany (2005) and a doctoral degree in natural sciences with specSpecialization in analytical chemistry at the Alfred-Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research and Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany (2010).
