Biography Christopher Noble

I work in the Production Biology department of Nofima’s Aquaculture division. My research mainly focuses on optimising large scale commercial aquacultural production, with particular emphasis on improving fish welfare, feed management and biomass control whilst minimising losses through escapes and mortality. I am also involved in a number of sealice projects including i) evaluating the performance of lice skirt barrier technology and ii) assessing the drivers for optimising cleaner fish welfare. Environmental enrichment strategies for improving the husbandry of juvenile salmonids is also a major research area.

Additional interests include: • Identifying and developing Operational Welfare Indicators (OWIs) for numerous species, life stages, rearing systems and production operations • Optimising welfare and product quality in capture-based aquaculture.Education: PhD, University of Glasgow, UK.
