Biography Celeste Jacq

I am interested in the application of molecular tools for assessing conservation and management issues in fisheries and aquaculture. Such issues include interactions between farmed and wild populations, anthropogenic impacts on wild populations, and the evolutionary effects of long-term selective breeding. I am particularly enthusiastic about the use of molecular markers to identify genetic stocks and population mixing; and to provide an assessment of the genetic diversity and fitness of populations for improved management practices, both in the wild and aquaculture programmes. In addition, I am interested in using genomic technology in novel ways, such as for the development of diagnostic genetic markers for traceabillity purposes
