Nofima scientist wins 2016 Packaging Profession Award

Marit Kvalvåg Pettersen, senior researcher at the department for Safe and Preservable Food, was awarded the 2016 Packaging Profession Award on Thursday evening.

The Packaging Profession Award is presented to people with a particular commitment to and special interest in packaging and the packaging profession community in Norway.

Marit Kvalvåg Pettersen has worked on packaging research and dissemination of packaging knowledge for many years, including through the packaging course at NMBU and teaching at the Packaging School. She is polymer chemist with a doctorate in packaging.

As a dedicates scientist, she heads a large strategic programme in packaging. She is also associate professor at the University in Ås, where she is responsible for all teaching in the field of packaging. She is a very active lecturer at seminars, courses and conferences.

Thomas Eie from Bama Industrier and Laila Horgen from Orkla Foods Norge, presented the award, which comes with a prize of NOK 10,000.
