Biography Ann-Magnhild Solås
I have worked as a research scientist with Nofima since 2015. My main research projects center on coastal zone governance, in particular near shore marine spatial planning and aquaculture management. I am a former student of the Norwegian College of Fisheries Science, UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, where I finished my Master’s degree in fisheries management in 2008 and my PhD in resource management in 2014. The PhD thesis centered on coastal zone planning in Norway. Currently, I coordinate an interdisciplinary project called Coreplan, focusing on governance of coastal ecosystem services through marine spatial planning. I am also a postdoctoral research fellow, funded by the Research Council of Norway. In this project, I study social sustainability in salmon farming in Norway and Canada. As part of this work, I will be visiting the Institute of Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, from August 2017 – July 2018.
Ann-Magnhild Solås has 15 publications at Nofima:

The aim of the project is to map and identify criteria that affects the duration and quality of coastal zone planning processes.
1. April 2016 – 28. February 2019
The coast is prized as a playground in which leisure as well as business activities can be enjoyed. During the Coreplan project we have examined how the authorities can manage our coastal zone while taking into account the value provided by our natural environment and safeguarding the various interests concerned.
