In its second year, scientists, farmers and technology suppliers at the CtrlAQUA Centre have researched and acquired new knowledge about farming in closed-containment aquaculture systems. Such knowledge will contribute to the Centre’s ambition to make closed systems off-the-shelf products. CtrlAQUA stands for the Centre for Research-Based Innovation in Closed-Containment Aquaculture.

Bente Torstensen has been employed as Nofima’s Director of its Acquaculture division. For the first time, Nofima is placing one of its directors in Western Norway, more specifically in Bergen.

Nofima’s Board of Directors has given the green light to the renovation of Nofima’s research station at Sunndalsøra in Norway, for approximately EUR 2.4 million. This will result in increased capacity, quality and research opportunities.

Nofima has recently signed an agreement under which the company’s unique sea urchin feed can be produced under licence in Australia and New Zealand. The agreement has been signed with the investment company Kaston International AS, which will develop the feed under the name Urchinomics.
