Climate changes are happening right now and they are threatening sustainable growth in aquaculture and fisheries worldwide. ClimeFish wants to draw the focus to the necessity of change, both when it comes to using opportunities while mitigating risks under the effects of climate change on aquaculture and fisheries.
During this project, the researchers shall gather new, multidisciplinary knowledge about how the marine industries can coexist in a good way along the coast, and develop new methodologies and models for such coexistence.
The primary objective of FutureFish is to improve the robustness of salmon and lumpfish under a changing climate scenario through investigating the genetics of robustness in salmon to thermal stress and sea-lice and improving the sea-lice eating ability of lumpfish.
The health and welfare of farmed and captured aquatic animals is becoming increasingly important for current and future aquaculture systems. We need to improve our understanding of their health and welfare status to strengthen the resilience and robustness of both the animals and the industry.
Through better drying methods and good knowledge dissemination, research will contribute to more new and nutritious dried food products.
CtrlAQUA is a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) that will lay the foundation for the development of closed-containment concepts of the future.
